Towards Mount Sturgeon, Dunkeld, 2003 – Limited edition of 100

Image of Towards Mount Sturgeon, Dunkeld, 2003 – Limited edition of 100

Mount Sturgeon and Mount Abrupt are the two hills that dominate the landscape as one drives from Penshurst towards Dunkeld. I had driven this road countless times during my photographic adventures in and around Dunkeld.

On this particular Spring day it seemed that both summer and winter existed at the same time. There had been a torrential downpour – but as Mount Sturgeon came into view, so did the sunlight, and the road turned from pitch black to brilliant shimmering bright.

This photograph is from the 2005 hardcover publication 'A Dunkeld Portfolio'.

In late 2002, invited by Alan and Maria Myers, Richard Crawley spent an extraordinary 18 months on a methodical yet meandering photographic odyssey in and around the small Victorian western district town of Dunkeld (population 400), and the surrounding countryside. This resulted in the successful hardcover publication ‘A Dunkeld Portfolio’.
